This fixed wireless network is a 4G network which consists of towers deployed in Essex County and other areas in 2013. This network provides greater than 4 times the capacity per tower than the previous generation and in the future will provide even greater growth as it is software-upgradeable to the LTE wireless standard. For our customers, 4G technology means robust speeds, bandwidth, and reliability.
What is included in a Basic Installation? (Most jobs are covered by basic install)
Outside the home or building
Step 1: after locating a suitable line-of-sight to the Access Point, stable mounting location and access to an appropriate grounding point our Xplornet authorized installer will mount the subscriber module to the home or building using a standard mounting bracket.
Step 2: the installer runs one pre-terminated outdoor Ethernet cable or RG6 cable in the case of satellite, up to 75 feet, from the base of the subscriber module to the point of entry into the home or building.
Step 3 The installer installs a surge suppressor or grounding block for satellite, preferably on the exterior of the home or building, which will then be grounded according to local regulations within the allowed distance from the grounding point (about 20′)
Step 4: the installer will seal all exterior holes and use drip loops on all exterior cables.
Inside the home or building
Step 5: the installer will run Ethernet cable or RG6 in the case of satellite , up to 50 feet, from a single point of entry directly to the computer’s location in the home or building. Typically, a small hole is required to be drilled in the outside of the wall to allow entrance of the cable.
Step 6: the installer will hookup an AC Power Adapter and/or modem.
Step 7: finally, the installer will test the system with the installer’s laptop to ensure the signal strength is working at the expected service level and Internet browsing is functioning.
What Installation Activities will Incur Extra Charges?
Additional charges may apply for any installation work that falls outside Basic Installation. As a rule we generally would not charge extra if we can finish the install under 3 hours and only need to use basic materials. Extra charges may include, but are not limited to, the following.
- PC clean-up, which includes quarantining and/or removing viruses and spyware
- setting up multiple PCs through a router or other Local Area Network (LAN) equipment
- setting up and/or supplying a router, NIC cards or any other accessory
- fishing wires through walls, running cables in the home indirectly from the point of entry, burying cables and installing conduits or external poles.
- running cables in excess of the lengths stated in the Basic Installation section
- multiple runs of Ethernet cable within the home or building
- mounting the subscriber module on excessive heights (e.g. greater than standard one-storey roof, typically 20′)
- installing a pop-up tower or tri-pod and pole to improve line-of-sight
- installation of a reflector dish
Extra charges are paid directly to the installer at the time of installation and are not subject to Xplornet’s 30 Day Money back guarantee.
